OOTD: JD Williams Joanna Hope Layered Maxi Dress

Do my eyes deceive me or is it finally sunny outside?! In the UK, we get so little sun that I love to make the most of it when the sun rears its' happy face, so out go the jeans and jackets of old and in fly the maxi dresses and sandals. Speaking of maxi dresses - how gorgeous is this little beauty from JD Williams?

Joanna Hope Layered Maxi Dress / £39 JD Williams

It's been a while since I posted an outfit of the day, but this amazing maxi was one worth posting for. Coming in Cobalt (a fun electric blue shade) and Damson (the divine mulberry shade that I chose), this dress is a flattering ankle-skimming length that gives it a more on-trend twist to your average maxi. Often, I avoid sleeveless dresses in favour of a cap sleeve but the double-layer top adds balance to my top half and also hides a multitude of sins, skimming straight over the stomach and hips. It works really well as a casual dress for lazy summer days, but the side split hem also enables it to be dressed up for more formal events, making this dress an absolute summer essential.

I love how versatile this dress is, and whilst I normally pair it with simple sandals and a floppy hat for daytime, I wanted to show how it can work equally beautifully for the evening. For this outfit, I added this gorgeous statement necklace from Primark for a touch of glam, and I love how perfectly it fits with the neckline of the dress. I also paired it with an oversized clutch from Accessorize that has a slight pop of colour that screams summer, and some simple strappy nude/pink heels to keep it understated. The overall effect is a sophisticated-yet-fun formal outfit that can be re-styled in so many different ways.

I was kindly sent this dress by JD Williams, and I was offered the chance to pick from their huge selection of amazing maxi dresses for all ages, styles and body types. I'd actually never heard much about the brand before they got in touch, but I've since spent hours on their website discovering a whole range of stunning dresses and gorgeous sandals - I'd highly recommend having a gander if you're stuck for your summer style.

How would you have styled the Joanna Hope Maxi?
