Review: Roger & Gallet Precious Restoring Rose Body Balm

Marketed as a fragrance/bodycare hybrid, these deliciously scented body balms from Roger & Gallet absorb quickly, leave you super hydrated and have you smelling heavenly. No need to waste your fancy perfume on a trip to the shops; a quick application of this and you'll be smelling gorgeous all day long!

Coming in a range of lovely fragrances, I was sent the Rose version to try out. I'm not normally a floral scent kind of girl, but this one isn't overpowering or even overwhelmingly floral. Think scattering of rose petals rather than a dozen red roses. The scent lingers in a nice, subtle way so you catch it when you move your arm, and whilst it does fade some after a few hours, you can still catch a whiff of it by the end of the day.

The vintage style metal tin is a refreshing change to the usual plastic tubs and bottles you find in the shops, making it perfect for putting on show in your bathroom (if you can handle visitors stealing a dab here and there). It has a country-living vibe to it which I absolutely love, and with 200ml of product, it'll last for ages too!

As for the consistency, the product is very thick and creamy - think along the lines of Sudocrem - but don't let this fool you. It is surprisingly lightweight in its' application, rubbing in easily and absorbing almost immediately. There is no sticky residue or film left on your skin, which in all honesty was something I half expected given the thickness of the product. I guess that's why it's been marketed as a balm instead of the cream that is clearly is; I would agree that it does perform more like a balm.

The formula is something dreams are made of. No exaggeration... well okay, a little exaggeration, but still. This is one of the most hydrating bodycare products I've tried - in fact, I would describe it as thirst-quenching. As soon as you apply it, your skin feels moisturised, supple and generally in much better condition. Perfect for my dry winter skin! It blitzes rough patches on elbows in seconds, and leaves my legs feeling touchably soft and smooth. Perfect!

What are your bodycare favourites?
