Review: MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick

MAC Velvet Teddy recently cemented its' place in the Hall of Makeup Fame when Kylie Jenner named it as her go-to lipstick for creating her famous full pout. Since then, you'd be lucky to find it in stock at any MAC counter, not to mention online - you might in fact fall upon the Holy Grail sooner. Needless to say, it certainly has a reputation to live up to - so is it worth the hype?

MAC Lipstick in 'Velvet Teddy' / £15.50

A universally-flattering pink nude with a hint of brown, the warm undertone to Velvet Teddy acts as a beautiful contrast against pale complexions and can work just as beautifully on warmer skintones. The beauty behind this shade is that it creates a subtle-yet-polished "my lips but better" effect. Whether you want a sultry nude to bring a casual daytime outfit together, or an uber-glam full lip in the evening, Velvet Teddy delivers. This is the lipstick of choice to create the illusion of fuller lips - simply pair with a neutral lip liner (I love East End Snob by Rimmel but MAC Spice or Soar liners are fantastic options too) or wear alone for a more low-key look, and you're good to go!

Part of the matte collection, Velvet Teddy does offer a subtle satiny-sheen for quite a while before drying to a matte. The formula is incredibly creamy, making it truly comfortable and smooth to wear, gliding on like a dream and skimming over any dry patches. The colour payoff and pigmentation is excellent, wearing for around 4-5 hours with ease. Expect it to rub off throughout eating and drinking within the first hour before it fully dries though - after all, it's not a miracle worker! Past the drying time, however, Velvet Teddy will not bleed, run, smudge or fade; this baby is formulated beautifully.

So does it live up to expectations? Damn right it does - in fact, I'm tempted to stock up now before my sources deplete!
