Review: Stila In The Light Eyeshadow Palette

It took me so long to get on the bandwagon with the Stila In The Light palette, mostly down to owning so many eyeshadow palettes they're bursting out of drawers. But when I saw one that was like new for sale for £15, I could hold off no longer, and it has left me wondering how I lived without it in my life for so long...

The gorgeous, sleek palette contains ten neutral shadows that aim to match all skin tones. They can be worn wet or dry, and there are four matte shades and six shimmer shades to play around with. This is a ratio I quite enjoy since I like a mix of matte and shimmer shades when creating pretty eyeshadow looks, particularly when it comes to making something more dramatic for the evening! Amazingly, the palette also comes with a smudge eyeliner which I believe sells for around £15 on its own, so you really can create a full look.

From their creamy formula to their super easy blendability and high level of pigmentation, these eyeshadows are formulated beautifully. They cause no fallout whatsoever, which is absolutely essential to me when deciding which palette to reach for in the morning. They also provide an incredible amount of staying-power, with each look lasting all day and night without wearing, creasing or fading. Really, ten out of ten on the formula, Stila!

As for the shades, the palette contains all the shades you could possibly need for any neutral look, from natural to evening makeup. Notable additions include, of course, Kitten, a famous shade for good reason, that is amazing for highlighting. Bare and Bliss, which are matte ivory and beige pink, are perfect shades for inner corners and all over the lids to create the basis of any eye look. Then there are the darker shades like Sandstone, Luster and Gilded Gold which make perfect crease shades and can be built up from a subtle shadow to a deep, dramatic shade. I actually love all the shades, which is unusual for a palette since there are normally some that I will seldom use, and whilst I was dubious about Night Sky (a grey/blue shimmer) at first, I've come to really enjoy it after forcing myself to use it.

Whilst it's quite a pricey palette, I genuinely think it is worth every penny, particularly when you consider that it doesn't just come with ten amazing shadows, it also has an amazing eyeliner and a huge mirror to offer. I'll certainly be repurchasing this little baby as soon as I hit pan; it is an absolute essential for me now! In fact, I'd even go so far as to say this is my favourite eyeshadow palette ever!

  1. I purchased the 'In The Know' Palette from Shoppers and I got to use it for the 1st time today. Sadly, my eyeliner was broken and won't twist and so far the shades are great. No great for dry skin/lids however.
