Pamper Sunday: Green Tea Detox

It's been a long while since I posted a Pamper Sunday - mostly because I've not had much time to pamper, even on a Sunday! - but since moving back home I have allowed myself some me time, and after a long hard week there's nothing I enjoy more than detoxing with green tea!

Green tea has actually been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries, and it's no wonder - it is absolutely full to the brim with antioxidants and nutrients (vitamin B, manganese, potassium and magnesium to name but a few) for a happy, healthy body. And it's no old wives tale either, as studies confirm it improves brain function, lowers cholesterol, increases fat loss and detoxifies the body when consumed regularly! I swear by the stuff when I'm on a health kick or trying to lose weight, as not only does it replace tea and coffee in my diet and ensure I get more water, it also aids in digestion.

Obviously the taste takes a bit of getting used to - I'm the only person I know who can actually drink it straight. Not to worry, though, as there are loads of flavoured green teas out there, my personal favourite being peppermint as it has even more digestive benefits. Get experimenting with flavours, adding honey or even mixing it with your favourite herbal tea flavour like I've done in my teapot here.

So, on the the detox and today I will be keeping my teapot full of a green tea and peppermint tea mix, ensuring that I drink at least 2 litres of water doing so. This will help to flush out all the bad stuff in my body and leave it squeaky clean and fresh, ready for the week ahead! No detox day would be complete without a cute teapot and cup set, and this combo is my favourite. The teapot, a gift from my lovely friend Emily, is called The Aviary and is from Disaster Designs, whilst the cup is from a local farm shop, but there are loads of similar ones on Amazon.

How are you pampering yourself this Sunday?

  3. I've never tried green tea, though I read so many posts about its benefits that I should give it a go really. Great post, and your photos are so clear.
