My Gym Bag Essentials!

We all know it's important to get moving and work yourself into a sweat to get that summer body and reap the health benefits, but there's no denying that it can be a fairly tedious affair, so I wanted to share with you the products I wouldn't be seen in the gym without! Here are my top product picks to make the gym a little more bearable...

Earphones

Unless you're doing a fitness class where they provide the music, you'll need something to listen to! I cannot work out without music, and I am constantly baffled by the people who just watch the TV screens at the gym. I have a whole workout playlist on my iPhone which starts with slower tunes to get warmed up with, and end up with some really fast-paced beats to keep me going. Would I listen to that music at any other time? No - but it sure as hell keeps me focussed on a treadmill! Amazon have loads of great inexpensive earphones, so take your pick.

Nike Free Runs

Obviously there are so many brands out there providing great quality trainers, but I personally am obsessed with my Nike Free Runs! They come in so many gorgeous styles (I personally have a beautiful black animal print pair) to fit any gym outfit, and their sole is so cushioned it feels like I'm walking on air, leaving them comfy for hours and hours. There's nothing quite like working out in these bad boys! They aren't cheap, but they're certainly worth it if you're serious about your workouts.

Tampax Compak Pearl

The amount of times I hear girls saying they're skipping their workout because they're on their period is crazy, and I do understand the worry. Period paranoia is a pretty big disincentive to get your ass to the gym, but it needn't be that way! After many years of trial and error, the product that's come out on top for me (and having looked online, so many other girls too!) is Tampax Compak Pearl, with its tiny size and "LeakGuard Skirt" which refuses to allow any sneaky leaks. I'm not actually a huge tampon girl, but since trying these I wouldn't use anything else at the gym - sanitary towels are simply too messy to workout with, but full size tampons may make you feel uneasy if you're moving around a lot. They are so small they cannot possibly cause any discomfort, and they are so tremendously absorbent that you can forget all about it during your workout! So no excuses, girls - stock up on these tiny tampons and get your butt to the gym, period or no period!

Avène Thermal Spring Water

I wrote a full rave review of this water spray here so I'll keep it short and sweet - I absolutely swear by Avene Thermal Spring Water at the gym, and the travel sized version fits perfectly into even the smallest of gym bags. After a workout, my skin always turns bright red and sweaty, and this spray is the only thing that works to reduce redness and, super importantly, refresh and rehydrate skin. I can't stand my skin feeling hot and clogged, and this spray is so cooling and cleansing that I actually look forward to using it.

Bobble Sport Water Bottle

Obviously water is an absolute essential for the gym to hydrate and fuel your body, but I'm not a huge fan of using any old bottled water. This one from Bobble has a built-in filter to remove carbon from your water, which basically prevents any harmful contaminants entering your body. It might seem like a novelty, but I assure you it's legit and I own 2 of these bottles to ensure my water is always nice and filtered. They come in a range of colours, and this one holds 650ml and is able to fit in treadmill bottle holders, car holders and bike cages.

Sistema Snack to Go

Snacking post-workout is vital in restoring your energy, and there are all sorts of fab snacks you can eat (see this post from PopSugar for some great ideas) to keep you going. Sistema has loads of snack boxes to hold anything from soup to salad, and they are all microwave and dishwasher safe - on-the-go snacking couldn't be more convenient!

What are your gym bag essentials?

*This post is sponsored but I'm a pretty outspoken gal - I'd never say anything that wasn't true and I do genuinely use and rely on all of these products*
