Edinburgh Haul! MAC, Kiehl's, Next, Primark, Iconemesis & more!

If you follow me on Twitter (@LucysBeautyBlog) you'll know I recently took a 2 day trip to Edinburgh and had an accidental shopping spree and bought myself all sorts of goodies. Well, who can blame me?

I love a good shop and most of the things I bought had been on my wishlist for a while - there's a certain amount of satisfaction getting your hands on something you've coveted for ages, isn't there? I was only in Edinburgh for a few days so between eating and seeing the sights I didn't get a massive amount of time to hit all the shops I wanted, but I think I did alright.

Scarf / £4 Primark
Just look at this scarf! It reminds me of the 1950s headscarves women used to wear and I absolutely fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. I have a huge scarf collection because I tend to wear fairly plain clothes and dress them up with accessories. At £6 I couldn't say no to this - and it doubles up as a cover-up too because it's so big!

Necklace / £6 Primark
I've been loving statement necklaces at the moment and have had my eye on a couple, but when I saw this in Primark I knew it had to be mine. It is really elegant and can dress any outfit up, and because it has no colour, I can really experiment with this piece.

Bracelet / £1 Primark
This was something I picked up on more of a whim, but at this price it was a no-brainer for me. I wear my gold Michael Kors watch every day but I like other accessories to compliment it and this one is so pretty and simple. It's actually a really sturdy bracelet considering it's so cheap, but no doubt it'll turn green in no time.

Pyjama Shorts / £4 Primark
I've been getting really warm in bed since the sun crept up on us, and since I was staying in a hotel room when I went shopping, it felt a bit unnatural to sleep with nothing on, so I picked up these cute floral bed shorts. They are really lightweight so I know I'll get a lot of use out of them in the summer, and they are a nice loose fit so they are incredibly comfy. There were loads and loads of patterns to choose from, and I did fancy a tartan pair since I was in Edinburgh but these bright pink babies really caught my eye!

Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado / £20 Kiehl's
Having read so much about this eye cream and seeing all the amazing reviews it gets, I picked up a small tub of it on my trip to the Kiehl's shop, along with some other samples that the lovely sales girl gave me. I've used this every day since, and even used it on the drive home to soothe my eyes from the irritation of the air conditioning, and I can honestly say it is the best eye cream I've used in terms of short-term benefits. As for the long-term effects, I'll have a review up when I've given it a real trial, but this is one I know will be in my skincare arsenal for a long time!

Lush Bella Fruta Gift Box / £20.95 Lush
Fruit and citrus scents are my favourite, and this Bella Fruta gift box is like a big beautiful fruit bowl of bathing loveliness! It contains an Avobath (one of my all-time faves), Red Fun, a Comforter, Miranda Soap, You've Been Mangoed Bath Melt and a Sympathy for the Skin Body Lotion - not bad, huh?

Lush Big Blue Bath Bomb / £3.35 Lush
The lovely girl in the Lush store gave me a demo of this bomb because it was one of the only ones I've never tried! I'm so glad she did because it contains so many amazing ingredients with some fab benefits. The seaweed regulates the metabolism (crazy, right?) and sea salt softens the skin, whilst lavender oil is antiseptic and cleansing. Quite a roll call!

Premium Petite Zip Skinny Jeans / £48 Next
I was in the market for some new jeans and I knew the ones from Next are good quality, having worked there in the past. This pair are super soft and have a nice wash that can be worn with anything. They fit perfectly and the little zip details are just too cute. Now it's getting warmer, I'll be waving goodbye to my standard black skinnies and working these into my outfits a little more.

Cat Sims Feathers iPhone 6 Case / £15 Iconemesis
Okay, so I didn't actually get this one in Edinburgh but it did arrive at home when I was there and I was really excited to get it. I absolutely love decorating my phone and I've coveted the cases from Iconemesis for ages, so when they sent me this I was really pleased. It arrived quickly, the customer service was fab and the quality is of this case is second to none which is really important to me because I need to know my phone is protected. There are so many great styles on their site that it is hard to choose, but I think I'll be building a little collection of these to go with my outfits. Very impressed.

Charcoal Detox Brightening Mask / £4.90 Timeless Truth
Another one I was sent whilst in Edinburgh, this mask from Timeless Truth uses a cloth infused with powder that you place on your face, rather than the traditional mud or peel-off mask. This one aims to brighten, reduce pigment, and add moisture to the skin and is ideal for congested skin and those who live in areas with a lot of pollution. I'm yet to try this mask but I've read some great reviews about it so I can't wait to see how it works - and of course I'll let you know when I do!

MAC Burgundy Times Nine Palette / £30 MAC
What can I say about this new release from MAC? It is just divine. I'll be doing a full review of this little beauty soon, and no doubt it'll feature in a fair amount of my makeup posts, but for now I'll say it contains a gorgeous mix of mattes and shimmers, and every shade is genuinely very wearable. The shadow formula is as brilliant as ever, and for 9 shadows it's not a bad price either.

MAC No Faux Pas Lipstick / £15.50 MAC
Oh lawwwd, I am in love! We all know I'm a bright lipstick lover, and when it's sunny there's nothing I love more than a blindingly pink lip. No Faux Pas is so bright it verges on neon and has a fantastic blue base which makes it perfect for my pale skin. I couldn't even do the shade justice on the camera, but I have actually been finding outfits to match this lipstick so I can wear it, and although it does transfer quite a bit when drinking and what not, it's an absolute dream to apply and is really smooth wearing. You haven't seen the last of this baby!

What have you treated yourself to lately?

  1. So many nice things =]

    1. Thank you lovely - I'm pretty pleased with my purchases! Xx

  2. Such a lovely haul :-) Ps for cheaper costume jewellery pieces you could put a layer of clear nail polish on the inside to stop them turning your skin green, it works with rings so it might work with your bracelet too.

    1. Thanks so much! I've been told that before but I've never actually tried it - perhaps I should if it actually works! X
