Candle Collection: Parks Aromatherapy Eucalyptus & Juniper

I love using candles to relax and calm my senses, and of course I love the classic berry and yummy citrus scents that you can pick up just about anywhere, but there is nothing that relaxes me more than an aromatherapy candle, and this one from Parks is pure luxury.

For those of you unfamiliar with the concept, aromatherapy is the use of fragrance, most commonly essential oils, to alter your mood and improve wellbeing. Although it may seem a little wishy-washy, the calming effects and improvement in your mood are tangible. Of course, the fact that you are giving yourself some valuable downtime whilst allowing the candle to permeate the room is a pretty significant contributing factor to relaxation, but all the same, an aromatherapy candle can work wonders for your peace of mind. Anything that can help you relax must be pretty good, right?

The fragrance I chose is Eucalyptus & Juniper, and I fell in love with it at first...erm, sniff? I have always loved Olbas Oil when I have a cold, with eucalyptus being the ingredient that provides the decongestant properties, as well as the strong scent. When accompanied with juniper, which has a bright, piney kind of scent, the result is incredibly fresh, clean and a bizarre mix of both invigorating and relaxing. I can definitely feel the release of tension from my temples and head as soon as the fragrance kicks in, and although the scent fills the room, it is not too strong or overbearing in a way that is not conducive to relaxation. In fact, when I feel congestion in my head, I now use this candle as my go-to in order to ease it and it works a charm.

Okay, so it's an expensive candle - at £30 for a burn time of 45 hours it is quite an extravagant purchase, but the candle is palpably luxurious. The wax is 100% natural, and the quality of the candle itself is second to none. It comes in a lovely cylindrical gift box too which is far too lovely to throw away, and as such makes a great gift - or in my case, a gift to yourself! The scent throw is fantastic and it doesn't pool at all, and it looks so elegant that I keep mine on display on my bedside table. I definitely want to explore more of the aromatherapy candle range, but this one will always have a place on my bedside table!

Do you use aromatherapy candles? I'd love to hear your recommendations!
