Spring Cleaning! Skin, Body and Hair Care Over-Haul

Spring is upon us and it's the time for a product overhaul - I've thrown away the old products that are going gooey in their containers and bought all new goodies for my skin, body and hair.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Colour Mate / £2.47 £4.99 for 250ml
Silvikrin Hairspray Firm Hold / £3.29 for 400ml

Ambre Solaire Spray SPF30 / £6.48 £12.99 for 200ml
Bondi Sands Self Tanning Mist in Dark / £11.99 £14.99 for 250ml
Johnson's Baby Oil / £1.95 £3.99 for 500ml

In an effort to streamline my life, and as an extension, my cabinets, I decided to throw out the old products I never used to make space in my drawers for some more simple products that I will actually get use out of. Out went 20 half empty bottles of various dry shampoos, hairsprays with clogged pumps, cleansers that don't agree with my skin and moisturisers with only a few drops left in them. In their place, I purchased things I know I will use and only need one of.

My favourite 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner by Aussie went straight in the basket, as did their 3 Minute Miracle for coloured hair since I'm going blonde tomorrow (exciting!) and I could use the extra care. As for hair styling products, I decided all I will need for the warmer months is some salt spray for beachy waves and some hairspray to keep my new 'do in place. Now my haircare cabinet consists only of these super simple products, my brushes and a few existing hair products I always use (my favourite Avon Naturals Hair Coniditoning Balm and a heat styling spray). Pretty streamlined, huh?

I am on a bit of a health kick at the moment, so I bought some multivitamins to boost my health (of course I got the chewy kind because I'm a kid at heart) and some sun lotion to protect my skin when it's sunny outside. As I don't tan easily, I couldn't resist trying a new fake tan from the Bondi Sands range - this Dark mist is amazing, easily to apply and long-lasting, so I can have a gorgeous tan without the UVA/UVB damage this spring/summer. As for moisturisation, I had heard baby oil works wonders at protecting skin during shaving as it acts like a barrier to your skin, and is more moisturising than shaving gel, so I stocked up - and guess what, it not only works for shaving, but for cleaning my makeup brushes too! Lastly, I have a bit of a problem with buying body lotions - I have tons of them in all kinds of scents and for all body concerns, but my sensitive skin doesn't agree with any of them. So I bit the bullet, chucked them out, and got this one from Aveeno specifically for sensitive skin. So far, so good!

Again, sun protection is really important at this time of year, so I bought a facial sunscreen specifically for sensitive skin by Piz Buin, which is working wonders so far (review to follow). To ensue my skin is on tip top form, as it was feeling a little lacklustre, I treated myself to a new Micro Polish by Una Brennan and got rid of my old, harsh exfoliators. This one contains vitamin C and works wonders to perk up my skin and keep it super supple and smooth! I then follow up with my favourite purchase - the Josie Maran Light Argan Oil, which is pure argan oil (my favourite skincare ingredient) and sinks into the skin like a dream. It can be used anywhere on the body and hair, and is super hydrating without being oily in the slightest! I absolutely love this product so look out for a rave review shortly. Now my skincare is completely overhauled, with my daily cream cleanser (Clearasil Skin Perfecting Wash), Lush Enchanted eye cream and treatments (La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo and Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair) being the only other products I use daily.

With my cabinets cleared out and only products that I will use filling them, I feel rejuvenated and less wasteful. Happy Spring!
