Saturday Night Makeup #6: Rouge Edition

My Saturday Night Makeup series is one of my favourite blog series' (see the others here) to publish, and this week I wanted a red lip and cheek combo to match my tartan shirt.

For my base, I started off with the amazing Laura Mercier Foundation Primer (see my rave review here) and as I was having a good skin day I touched up my undereye area with Collection Illuminating Touch Concealer and went straight on to stipple on a small amount of Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. The effect was slightly too luminous and glowy for flash photography, so I dusted Mac Mineralize Natural Powder quite heavily all over to keep me oil-free all night. I sculpted my cheekbones with a light swirl of Chanel Bronze Universel, then added a healthy helping of the rouge shade in the Sleek Blush By 3 Pumpkin Palette. Normally I wouldn't wear this much blush, but I wanted the focus to be on my red lips and cheeks so I amped it up a little.

I wanted my eyes to be simple yet sultry, so I got out my trusty Naked Basics Palette and applied a light dusting of the Naked 2 Shade all over, with Faint in the crease and Venus in the inner corners to open up my eyes. I decided that a cat flick would add something to the look so I super carefully added a fairly thick flick with my Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeliner and gave my lashes 2 coats of Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara for good measure. Flirty eye perfection!

My go-to red lip product of the moment is Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stain in Rendezvous, because it is super hydrating, non-sticky, stays on all night. This shade is a perfect subtle hint of colour rather than a full-blown red, which I feel was too sexy for the look I was aiming for.

My makeup lasted all day and night and I got tons of compliments so I was happy with the result. What was your Saturday Night Makeup?
