Summer Edit: Hair!

Wow, I can't believe I'm on the fourth instalment of my Summer Edit series already! So far, I've talked about summer handbags, skincare and makeup, so I thought today I would talk about my summer hair routine and favourite products. In the summer, I like to spend as little time as possible styling my hair, and rarely use heat. Instead, I prefer to use nourishing products to minimise any sun damage and let my naturally wavy hair shine through (without letting my frizz flag fly!)

To wash my hair, I use the Lush New Solid Shampoo Bar every other day. The bar lathers up nicely and easily, and I feel like my hair is squeaky clean after using it. It leaves my hair incredibly soft and shiny, making it perfect to achieve the look I want. For me, this spicy-scented shampoo bar is pretty close to the perfect shampoo and I can't see myself stopping using it anytime soon. After this, I follow up with L'Oréal Elvive Nutri-Gloss Shine Conditioner. I actually bought this on a whim, but I was incredibly impressed with it and haven't used anything else since. The pink conditioner works perfectly to nourish the hair and make it shiny and super soft, and I have found the combination of this shampoo and conditioner is a winner for my hair!

Another shower essential is my Aqua Splash Tangle Teezer (see this post) which effortlessly glides through my wet hair to distribute conditioner and ensure my hair is smooth without tugging or pulling.

Once a week, I use the Charles Worthington Intense Rescue Melting Balm to provide deep nourishment to my hair. This balm is perfect for my thick hair, making it soft and reducing frizz. It is easy to use, simply by rubbing it between your hands to turn it in to an oil, applying it to dry hair and leaving it for 20 minutes before washing your hair as normal. For an even deeper treatment, you can use a hair dryer to warm up the oil when it's on the hair, or even leave it in overnight. Not only this, but you can also use a very small amount on clean hair to control frizz! It is the many different ways you can use this balm that really makes me love it. After using this, I really feel as though my hair is in a better overall condition, especially after a few applications.

I absolutely adore any leave-in treatments that nourish my hair and I have three favourite products for this. Macadamia Nourishing Leave-In Cream smells delicious, is easy to apply to damp or dry hair, and requires minimal effort whilst still being very effective. For the same reasons, I also love the Avon Naturals Conditioning Balm (see my full review here) and I use it every day as it is much more cost effective than using the Macadamia Cream with similar results. My favourite oil is Osmo Berber Oil, which contains argan oil to keep my hair in pristine condition! I use this once every few days in place of the Avon Balm and it works amazingly well - it makes my hair soft, smooth, shiny and healthy looking.

My hair is naturally wavy, but I have two favourite products to give it a boost. For days when I want loose, beachy waves, I use the cult favourite Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray (see this post). This stuff is a dip in the ocean in a bottle, giving me tousled waves in just a few sprays. Even more impressive is that this spray makes my hair dry slightly quicker and also leaves it frizz free for effortless beachy hair. There's a reason it's a cult product! My other favourite product for this is the John Frieda Luxurious Volume Thickening Mousse, which gives my hair a root boost and holds a wave. I use this when I want to achieve a slightly more "done" hair look and it works brilliantly, particularly when used before styling with a curling tong.

If my hair looks dull or lifeless, I love a quick spritz of Wella Shimmer Delight Shine Spray. This just settles nicely onto your hair and gives it a subtle shimmer (nothing too 80's, don't worry!). I use this just to finish my hair off. I also love using the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Moisture Mist, which can be used on skin as well as hair, making it perfect for your beach bag. This mist gives your hair and skin a moisture boost and makes you feel refreshed, something which is so important on a hot summer day!

I'd love to hear your summer hair picks! Please follow me on Bloglovin' before GFC goes!
