Review: Avène Cleanance Mask

I am absolutely obsessed with face masks, but I have to really feel it working to combat my combination skin and occasional blemishes to fall in love with a mask. This can cause problems, though, because I have sensitive skin that can react badly to some masks. This is where the Avène Cleanance Mask comes in, because it contains their Thermal Spring Water (review here) which soothes skin, at the same time as providing deep cleansing and exfoliation. Perfect.

It is safe to say this mask is perfect for my sensitive combination skin. It contains kaolin (white clay) to leave my skin mattified, but doesn't feel harsh or drying at all. In fact, it is incredibly light and smooth, making it easy to apply to the skin. The Thermal Spring Water soothes my skin, whilst the mask works to regulate sebum and unblock pores. Even better, the mask contains exfoliating particles which provide a thorough-yet-gentle scrub, leaving your skin soft, smooth and ridiculously clean!

This mask can be applied to dry or damp skin, and works in only 5 minutes, making it perfect to use even for the busiest of people. If you're like me, you will really love the cooling and refreshing feeling, like it's really getting deep down into your pores and giving them a deep clean. It dries quickly, and the removal process feels really...satisfying, for lack of a better word. It feels like you're really washing away the bad things in your skin, which is helped along by the scrub part of the mask.

I use the Avène Cleanance Mask once or twice a week, and I have found it to have truly wonderful effects for me, particularly in prevention and treatment of blemishes. I certainly think it is an essential for oily, combination and spot-prone skin. At £15 for a 50ml bottle, it isn't the cheapest, but it is worth very penny!
